2D1N Kudat Trip

Having been in Sabah for 5 1/2 years, I have not yet explored much places in Sabah. This was the first time I planned a trip to Kudat. I stayed at Kudat downtown for one night. I am still a newbie in planning trips as well as photoshooting. A short trip to Kudat do not cost too much. While planning, I did some research of the places of interest, distances and the accommodation. Luckily, one of my lecturer joined us and she was driving during the whole trip. Great thanks to her!

Our plan of 2D1N Kudat Trip was as follow:
Day 1
- Breakfast at Tuaran town
- Sumangkap Gong Factory
- Rungus Longhouses
- Check-in
- Lunch
- Walk around Kudat town
- Esplanad Sidek
- Dinner

Day 2
- Breakfast
- Buy some souvenirs (Kudat Groundnuts)
- Tip of Borneo (Simpang Mengayau)
- Lunch (at the roundabout to Kota Marudu)
- Back to campus

It was an enjoyable and relax trip that I learnt the cultures of Rungus and local Kudat. The beach and views at Kudat are amazing! When I stood on the tip of Borneo, words couldn't describe my feelings.

P/S: Due to the poor internet access, the photos will be uploaded when I have strong internet connection.

LGA- Story telling presentation

From generating ideas, writing the ideas and presenting the story, each step was uneasy but remarkable for everyone of us.

BIG 4 - Social Activities and Foster Family

In this BIG activity, we are all involved in social activities and foster family. I have gained much experiences such as cooking the Kadazandusun traditional food - serunding and tuhau, baking cakes, playing gong, play at the river as well as learning to suit myself in a rural area. Having no internet access as well as telephone line, I was quite worried at the beginning. However, the life staying here was wonderful until I forgot to online. My class, TESL combined with BKD class, were having a camp in Mantob under the couse Bina Insan Guru (BIG). For me, it was a very precious and wonderful camping experience whereby I learnt a lot from the residents as well as little kids.

The facilities here were not equipped well  but it was enough to survive. They were not rich because of money but the love and care from their deep heart shore. Having a loving heart and service the community with a grateful heart is always better than sitting there doing nothing for the community but just keep on repeating kesian...kesian....

**Service for our family whenever we are, service others when we have chance, help the others to build the community better. Make the world wonderful.

Dramatisation of Hamlet

Having watched the dramatisation of Hamlet from PPISMP TESL Semester 2 in IPGK Gaya, I am inspired a lot.

When I was watching the drama, I am thinking when I am going to put on a drama with my future pupils. I think I am into the teaching profession. Haha..

The acting of the juniors are amazing. Most of them like experienced actors and actresses. I have learnt much from them. Most of them have good voice projections and intonations. I think they have done better than me in acting. Their props are also simple yet impressed.

"To be or not to be"

This quote is useful for me in many circumstances when I am going to make any decisions.
"To be or not to be"

P/S: I wish I do not interpret the quote wrongly.

One of my challenges - Blood Donation

Today, I have made a very great decision which is donating blood. Before this, I have tried to join blood donation campaign but due to certain circumstances, I can't. Now, I have finally donated blood. I am proud of myself. Although I am afraid of blood and injections, I confront all these.

I am a Girl Guide! Yeah! First time donating blood!!!

After few hours, my hand became this.
Have a little bad feelings when my hand became this.
Luckily I have seniors who are BSMM and they helped me! Thanks!
Hope I can recover soon!

Our blood flows in our body and it is produced every day. Why don't we challenge ourselves? Not to afraid of injections and blood, do some charity work! A pack of blood helps people who need. There are a lot of people waiting for our blood in order to survive. Do something meaningful! I felt very happy when I knew that I am a successful donor! I am extremely HAPPY today!!!

P/S: I lose weight!!! I have three meals a day... Having rice... Eating full breakfast everyday. Jogging and doing stretching almost every day and I lose weight! Wow! A great great day!

Everyone can write their own stories

I have a nice movie in cinema last week. That movie - The Book of Life. Although it was just an animated cartoon movie, it was inspiring. I think I have gained a lot from the movie.

"We can write our own story”

“Everyone has their blank pages to write their own stories, it just depends what they want to write"

"A pure and kind heart will always win the evil one"

Yeah... Everyone can write their own stories. I can also write mine. Therefore, why do I need to sit there and keep on complaining. I have 24 hours as everyone has. I should know what I want and I should do it!!! In life there are a lot of obstacles but I can still overcome them and do it!

Like Nike, "Just do it!"

Yeah!I can do it!!!

Dharma Walk - YBMA

I was no one, I am just a volunteer in Dharma Walk 2014. In this walk, I have known s bunch of new friends. Each of them has different talents and they worked together very well. They have different backgrounds, ages, jobs as well as ways of thinking; still. this two-day-two-night functions was organised and run very well and organised. Susposingly, the committee members running this functions is under 40 years old; however, all of them are just below 30 years old. The average ages of them are 24. Some of them are just 17. I was surprised for what they have done after knowing their real ages. Their ways of thinking and working are matured. They were very serious in working and ran things efficiently. I was glad that I was a volunteer being there so that I could observe and learn from them. Perhaps, they were arguing during work; but they can still be friends after work. They gave supports and they cherish each other.

I wish I could work with them again as I can learn a lot from them. Thank you friends.

Here are something new I learnt from these two days:

Age does not define how a person thinks and works.

Be humble at all times in order to keep learning in pace.

Be well-planned and have a bigger picture for everything.

Be prepared for any shortcomings or last minute changes.

Calm down and there are always ways to solve the obstacles.

In our way to succeed, there are always a lot of obstacles and lures, be calm and steady, face them and get through them.

Know yourself, know your role and do it well.

LGA3013E-Exploring and Exploiting Drama in the Primary ESL Classroom

Having studied Language Arts for a whole semester, in my opinion, it was never a simple subject to learn as I need to brainstorm more ideas in order to make students feel interesting in learning English language as a second language as well as enable students to communicate in English language in their daily life.

Although I was a photographer in this activity, still, I enjoyed my position. I tried my best to take photos for everyone and recorded the happy moments interacting with the pre-schoolers. Some of my coursemates have prepared and they presented the puppet show to the pre-schoolers. I think although the pre-schoolers do not understand English language very well, perhaps they didn't even understand what my coursemates have presented, still, the kids enjoyed the show very much due to the pictures and soundtracks.

This activity has given me a great idea by inserting a puppet show for my future students. It has also changed my idea that the students won't be able to do that. Now, I believe that my future students can do it and they enjoyed learning English language through this way.

Labuan Trip (30/8/2014 - 1/9/2014)

DAY 1
Reach Labuan
Early in the morning, we took the 8 a.m. ferry leaving for Labuan.
It took us 3 and half hours to travel from Jesselton Point, Kota Kinabalu to Labuan.
Although I have been travelling in boat before, I still vomitted because of the waves.
P/S: REMEMBER TO EAT MEDICINE before u on board!
The Labuan Jetty

We rent a car and checked-in at Aifa Hotel which is in the town right after we arrived the jetty.
At the Aifa Hotel, we were given some brochures about Labuan.
Their service are really great!

Batu Manikar Beach
There is a very great sunset view at this beach. (One of the tourism attractions) The scenery is damn beautiful! Unfortunately, we did not manage to enjoy the sunset due to the time factor. Though, the scene is still amazing!

Japanese Surrender Point
It is a place whereby the Japanese army surrendered during the war.
Walk up to the small hill, u can see a great view of Batu Manikar Beach!
It was a very great place for photo shooting!!

Peace Park
Near to the Japanese Surrender Point, Peace Park is there! It is a great place for photo shooting.
We took a lot of pictures and videos here!!!

Dinner
We were having our dinner at one of the restaurants in the town. Crabs~~ My favourite!!

Besides, we also went a walk at Labuan Square.
Due to Malaysia Independence Day, there were a lot of people there waiting for count down.

DAY 2
Marine Museum
The Labuan Marine Museum is at Jalan Merdeka. Although there are not many species of fishes here, still it is decorated nicely and well-arranged.

Labuan Museum
We can know a lot about the cultures and histories about Labuan from the war era untul nowadays!

The Chimney

Bird Park

Water Village
A kampung girl meets water village for the first time!!

Best souvenirs - chocolates
Chocolates and alcohols are really cheap here.
However, I just bought some chocolates for my friends and family.. hahaha

Anjung Ketam
We were having our seafood dinner at Anjung Ketam, the third stall. The orange juice are fresh orange juice, not from the bottle. All the seafood are fresh caught from the sea in the morning and all sold out at night time. We need to go there earlier to book for the seafood. Everything tasted nice! I want to go there once for food again!

DAY 3
Going home
There are two shifts of ferry to Kota Kinabalu there -  8 a.m. and 1 p.m. We chose the 1 p.m. because we do not want to rush for the ferry. There were many people in the departure hall and it was crowded at the imigration section.
P/S: Alcohol is just limited to 1 litre!!!

If you travel according to the brochure, your journey to go around Labuan is just approximate 40 kilometers.
Do not worry being there because there are many sign boards (in Malay language) which can show you where you want.
